I don't know why they call them lap trays for the elderly? In my opinion anyone can use them to eat while sitting on the couch or on a chair.Sometimes it is very comfortable not to set the whole dining room table for having breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a snack in between. While watching TV it can be very hand to use one of these trays and eat while keep watching your favorire program.
It was very easy to find a few of them. It was not easy to find some that we can use in multiple ways.
